I just received an email saying someone appreciated my review from “2 years ago” re: AAA Car Center in Rock Hill. I’m updating my review. I’d have to give this location 1 star now, it really rating zero because it’s no longer in existence! For some unknown reason, they closed it down about a year ago. During that time, my car brakes stopped working at the Walmart in Newport, exactly 3 miles from this closed facility. I had to pay for a tow, costing me $80, to bring me to a Toyota I was familiar with in Gastonia! The tow to this closed location would have been free. I feel that AAA owes me $80! I had previously, before they closed, sent emails to various AAA offices, trying to get them to open one in York or Blacksburg in order to service those in the areas west of Rock Hill who depend upon this Rock Hill center which they were going to close. They ignored my request and continued with their plans of opening two more in the Charlotte - Fort Mill area – they already had a half dozen in that area. My evaluation of the AAA corporation is a good bit lower than it had been, as anyone can suspect. I don’t go to any of their facilities anymore due to the distance.

In the past three weeks, I bought Michelin tires there, then had my car’s 28 year old suspension replaced yesterday. Through it all, I was made to feel like family, very welcomed, with all my questions answered and a very friendly “porter” who took me to several places in town while I waited for my car. Being a member, the work is guaranteed for two years, but, having had work done by them in the past, the excellent work they do never needs repeating. Their parts are equal to or better than dealer replacement parts and I have confidence that any “rework” that would become necessary will be handled in the same friendly, helpful manner. In the past, when parts needed to be ordered, making my car undriveable until the job was done, I was transported 28 miles home and picked up when the car was ready – for free. Although my dealer will sometimes rent a car for me, I never know if they will or if I’ll have to rent a car - not until it comes up. AAA can be counted on to transport me home and back for free. I can’t praise this location highly enough. They’re the best, and their prices are much lower than dealer prices. That’s a quadruple winner: friendly, great work and parts, free transportation, and good pricing.

11/29/17 UPDATE:

Very happy with AAA - this is my second time there. The lady that works up front is friendly and helpful. Wayne drove me back to work today after I dropped the car off. They fixed only what I asked to have fixed, and it cost what they told me it would cost. They didn't call with a bunch of additional things needing to be repaired or give me a bill with random questionable charges which always seems to happen when I go to another big name place in the area.

Brought an older car in with three different problems. All three problems solved - with the shop looking for the least costly way to fix them. Some delay caused by a dealer providing defective parts, but Teresa kept me updated frequently. I received an estimate, and the final bill stayed within the estimate, in spite of the shop having to make an extra trip to North Charlotte to get the right parts. Prompt service, good communication, work done properly for a reasonable price. I know where I'll go for future repairs on my newer vehicles.

I've taken my rav4 here twice for an oil change. Will not go again. The staff is polite and nice, but each time I had to bring my vehicle back after they made a mistake. The first time, the cap on the oil pan was not screwed in all the way, causing an oil leak after the change-they did resolve the issue. I thought I'd give them one more chance. I took it back for a second oil change recently. After getting my car home and thinking everything ok, I look down to see that my check engine light, 4WD light, and traction control lights all were on. Also, my cruise control would not engage. I took it back, only to be told that I would need to PAY $95.00 for a diagnostic check-even though all the warning lights came on immediately AFTER leaving the oil change. Took my car to the dealership and they said the air intake manifold on the engine had been knocked loose somehow. Had to pay to have this fixed at the dealership. Never again will I go to AAA.

BEWARE........The WORST! I went to get a van repaired! I thought everything was ok until my van started to leak again! I took the van back to AAA and they advised me that my engine would have to be taken out to repair the leak. Aaa also advised me that they weren't responsible for the repair and that they were in the process of shutting down the rock hill location so there was NOTHING they could do for me! I took the van to another shop on Anderson rd & they advised me that the thermostat that I got put in at AAA was installed backwards! Wow...Needless to say my van was fixed and the engine didn't have to be removed! Afterwards I advised the lady at the front desk at AAA in rock hill what was going on & she replied " what does a thermostat being put in backwards have to do with your van leaking coolant". Yikes!!! I would not recommend AAA under any circumstance and I am in the process of trying to get my 800+ bucks back to me! BEWARE.
